Prof Chris Bullen (left) co-chaired the third ASEAN Smoking Cessation Board meeting in Kuala Lumpur in the first week of August. He was joined by key opinion leaders in smoking cessation research, advocacy and practice from seven of the ASEAN nations – Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia , Indonesia and Singapore to share Clinical Practice Guidelines, healthcare professional training programme curricula, and compare the availability and use of pharmacotherapies in each country. The Board is advocating for region-wide access to WHO Essential Medicines such as nicotine replacement therapies, to support people to quit smoking.
